South West Sicily, Menfi

This boutique hotel has a spacious working kitchen especially designed for hands on cooking classes (We helped design it!) The modern, tiled kitchen has state of the art equipment including a little outside patio with woodfired oven. The hotel has its own extensive herb gardens from which the wonderful perfumes waft through the airy rooms. The infinity swimming pool has spectacular views and you can order pool side cocktails or tea after a morning's cooking.

The hotel is situated amongst its own private vineyards close to the beach of Capparrina on the unspoilt Mediterranean coast. It is near the Greek sites of Selenute and about an hour away from Agrigento. The ancient town of Sciacca with its famous sardine and anchovy salting factories on the port can be visited in an afternoon. Visit Marsala, the island of Mozia and Trapani for seafood cous cous and Phoenician ruins. Palermo with its fabulous food markets and history is one hour away by car. And most importantly the best fish restaurant in the world is only five minutes away on the beach.

2 night Sample schedule

DAY 1
Arrival and check in, welcome talk with orintation showing the layout of vineyards and olive groves followed by a dinner focused on local ingredients

DAY 2
7.30-9.00: Breakfast
9.30-12.30: Hands on cooking class - Traditional Sicilian cooking
13.00: Lunch with dishes prepared during the lesson, matched estates wines
15.30: Extra virgin olive oil experience - visit to Capparrina olive grove and tasting the new olive oil
Visit to Mulino dal Ponte to talk about ancient grains, Castelvetrano breads and
traditional recipes
20.00: Aperitive
20.30: Dinner with a menu prepared by the Chef matched with estate wines

DAY 3
7.30-8.30: Breakfast
9.00: Visit to cheesemaker at Sambuca Di Sicilia to see the preparation of ricotta and Primosale
